Resignation, Termination, and Retirement



Employee resignation is when an employee gives notice to an employer that he or she is going to leave their job. An employee resignation from a job typically include giving notice to your employer that you are leaving.

Termination is when an employee's job ends. Termination can be a voluntary termination of employment by the employee. Voluntary termination includes resignation or retirement.

Retirement is the point in time when an employee chooses to leave his or her employment permanently. Retirement generally coincides with the employee's eligibility to collect retirement resources such as Social Security, a company pension, or distributions from a 401(k) or another retirement plan.
